WE DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE WE LIVE

By: Sofia Medina 10A

When vacation arrives, not everyone has the opportunity to travel, so staying in Bogotá is the only option you have. You may think it is the most boring thing you can do, but actually, there are many things to explore in town. Many people that live in the city don't know it very well, and that is really sad because there are plenty of things Bogotá has to offer. It’s important to remember that it is the capital of Colombia, and in consequence, it has a lot of cultural activity.

Many people that live in Bogota haven’t been able to go to the museums, which are really valuable because they make us conscious of the remarkable events the country and the city have passed through; you can also see some relics of the ancient tribes that lived in the region. Some museums located in Bogotá are “El Museo Botero”, “El Museo del Oro”, and “El Museo Nacional”, among others. The tickets for the museums are really affordable (oscillate among 7,000 to 20,000 pesos) and some of them are free on Sundays.

If you want to learn more about the important buildings of our beloved city, it is also a good plan to go to  Monserrate. It is located at the top of a mountain, where one of the most important churches of the city is placed. You can go to make a prayer and then take a walk by the stores that are located there; and the best of all: the view. From Monserrate, you can see the entire city, and I can guarantee you, it will be the best view of Bogotá you will ever see.

If you´re tired of these historical and traditional subjects, just go along with other things you might like. For example, you can go to “Escape Room”, where you decide a scenario in which you are going to be trapped for sixty minutes, and in order to get out, you have to solve some puzzles. Another option could be going to "Jump Center": a room full of springboards where you can jump wherever you want, and have fun with your family and friends. You can also take a walk through “La Zona G”, “La Zona T”, “Parque de la 93”, “Calle 116” and many other places where you can find a lot of restaurants and stores; just jump in a restaurant you don’t know and try different food, or buy things you usually wouldn't buy.

Sometimes we close our minds, and don't get to see all the options we have here in Bogota, so just try something new. People get bored of doing the same things, and it is always good to try new stuff. Remember, Bogota has more to offer than you think.
