PACHAS RENEWAL 2017

By: María Camila Ospina Rojas 10B.

As a person who has been in three different schools, each one in a different city of the country, I know a thing or two about what it is like to see diverse environments in short lapses of time. We’ve all seen the changes the school has been going through lately, and we have to accept that some of us haven’t been able to adjust completely. However, all these changes are made for a common benefit and will bring excellent things to the Pacha community.

This evolution goes from infrastructure to teaching-wise. Of course, the most notorious one is the physical turn the school has had. In high-school, we no longer have fixed classrooms, which implicates the permanent movement around the institution.  Although it isn’t easy to go all over the school with our backpacks full of things, I have to accept it has been certainly fun, and on many occasions, a life-saver. The other aspect I believe we have to highlight is how the Sustainable Development Goals have been implemented on the teaching of different subjects, not only because they are a really important aspect of society nowadays, but because they perfectly complement the vision and mission the school has.

You don’t always have to agree with everything that is being proposed and done, but if you cooperate and adapt in a constructive and mature way, it will be much easier to get along with whatever change is going on. Although we cannot control the evolution the school is having, we can certainly have good vibes towards it and try to give our best to adapt.

Independently of what position you have towards the changes that the school has been going through, I think what matters the most is having a positive attitude. As Benjamin Disraeli once said “Change is inevitable. Change is constant”. I hope the school continues to bring new stages and tools that not only offer their growth as an institution, but also an individual and collective growth for all students. Let’s see what the future holds for us!
