By: María Camila Ospina Rojas 10B

Halloween is just around the corner! Besides trick-or-treating, there’s no better plan than curling up in bed with some popcorn and a cozy blanket, ready to binge-watch some classic spooky movies. In this article, you will find my personal top 4 classic Disney spooky movies, I can’t miss watching these whenever Halloween is around!

1.    The Nightmare Before Christmas [1993]: This is what I call an oldie but a goodie. This movie, directed by the genius Tim Burton, tells the story of Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloweentown. Jack, bored of doing the same thing every year for Halloween, goes to Christmastown. There, he gets inspired by all the colors and the lights they use and tells people back home all his crazy ideas. However, things get out of hand, and even Santa Claus is jeopardized! How will Christmas be saved?

2.    Twitches [2005]: This movie is not one that many people know of, and they are seriously missing out on a very interesting plot. Two sisters that had been apart since birth, meet again. Mysteriously, they find out that they have magical powers, and have to fight against some dark and dangerous people. If you want to find out if they were able to save not only their powers but also if they remained close, don't forget to watch it!

3.    HalloweenTown [1998]: Marnie is a teenager bored of her mother’s lack of Halloween fun spirit. On Halloween, her grandmother shows up at her house, and while she is talking to Marnie’s mother, Marnie eavesdrop on their conversation and finds out she has superpowers! Marnie’s grandmother leaves, and Marnie and her brother decide to follow her, and soon find the magical Halloweentown. In this magical town, they must fight against a malignant force that is threatening it! Will they save it? Will they stay on Halloweentown forever?

4.    Hocus Pocus [1993]: Hands down… Favorite. Halloween. Movie. Ever. The plot of the movie focuses on three witches that used to live in 17th century Salem and were once hanged. However, they managed to return to the house in which they lived in, causing many myths and legends to appear around them. Two curious siblings, along with a close friend, decide to loiter around the witches’ house and get caught! I recommend you to watch the movie and find out what happens to the three kids and the witches!

With these four movies, your Halloween night won’t fail. These are just classics that everyone should see… At least once. You can find Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas on Netflix, the other two… I’m afraid you’ll have to look them up on other platforms (I know. I love Netflix too). Anyways, get your popcorn ready and throw on the coziest blanket you have. Halloween is just the perfect excuse for binge-watching spooky movies!
